Loughborough University Career Fair

On the 11th of May, Horus Music attended at the Springboard “A different careers fairs” at the Loughborough University in the James France Exhibition Centre.

The success of the Springboard initiative shows that there is clearly a demand for a fair that includes areas not covered at the more traditional Business, IT and Engineering orientated fairs.  The Springboard fair held last year had over 44 exhibitors and was attended by approximately 1200 students.

The last fair received positive feedback from both exhibitors and students alike:

The career fair was a chance to network with representatives providing advice on job areas where formal graduate schemes are scarce, e.g. media, sport, arts, design, environment, public, voluntary sectors and music.

This year we had a lot of interest from students wishing to find out more about the company, and the Music Industry itself. We had a number of students ask us questions regarding careers within Publishing and Management, and how they could pursue this as a career.

Some students had no idea what area of the industry they wanted to work in but knew that they wanted a career within it. After investigating what is was they enjoyed about music, it was easier to pinpoint a number of different career paths that they could look at and aspire to.
